Quarantine Vol. 4 - Something Joyous and Jazzy!

Welcome Spring! Along with spring blooms and longer sunny days comes Jazz Appreciation Month.

I thought it might be refreshing to hear a bit of jazz to lighten our spirits after a long winter.

The selection I chose is Jealousy ( Jalouise) performed by Stepahane Grappelli and Yehudi Menuhin. An unlikely collaboration that united a lifelong musical friendship after a mutual friend brought them together.

Stephane Grappelli (1908 – 1997) Considered to be “the grandfather of jazz violinists”. Grappelli founded Quintette du Hot Club with Django Reinhardt in Paris 1934. You may recall his name as he inspired a previous “What We Are Listening To” with Eddie South.

Yehudi Menuhin (1916- 1999) Born in New York City. Menuhin showed exceptional talent at an early age. His first public appearance was at age seven with The San Francisco Symphony.

Menuhin is considered to be one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century.

Enjoy!
